February 2022 Recap and Favorites

February is a beautiful month and I celebrate every single day since it’s my birthday month! I don’t have really many favorites or much to recap. As I’m entering this new year of life, my goal is to put myself first and to stay steady on the path of achieving my goals.

New Favorite Shows:

If I haven’t mentioned it before, Abbott Elementary is one of my new favorite TV shows. I look forward to it on Tuesday evenings or catching it the following day via Hulu. The child actors are amazing! I am so happy for Quinta, from “a lArge?!”, Buzzfeed, Black Lady Sketch Show, and other things along the way, this is huge and I love to see people continue to win, succeed, and keep moving their bar higher.

Sherly Lee Ralph’s voice can always command a scene. I love seeing Lisa Ann Walter from The Parent Trap. Tyler James Williams is always great in a comedic role. Janelle James as Principal Ava reminds me of a lot of people that are in positions of power that can’t actually do their job, but she’s actually funny. Chris Perfetti plays the role of of young teacher just trying to make it without any scandal perfectly. Shoutout to William Stanford Davis who plays the custodian. I’m glad that job is a part of the job because I remember always speaking to my elementary school’s custodian.

My other new favorite show is Bel-Air. I am HOOKED. The reboot cycle seems never-ending, but this one is really good. I love seeing the new talent and bringing talent that has been around back to forefront a la Coco Jones. I know an actor or actress is playing their role when I can’t stand them. The reinvisioned Carlton… ugh. Olly Sholotan knows what he’s doing as the villain and that chin-acting is something else.

Favorite Books:

I have been listening to so many audiobooks. On a chill, uninterrupted week, I can get through 2-3 in a week. I was really blowing through them in January and February, but I have been busier this month of March and have slowed down a bit plus I’m focusing on my studies.

My favorite book I’ve read this year so far is Seven Days in June.

Spoiler Alert: I usually don’t care for a spin the block type of love story, but this one was so beautiful and actually touching. I can’t wait for the small screen adaptation. It’s a great story about how things are not always what they seem and the importance of open communication and honesty. I really don’t want to spoiler it too much. The author, Tia Williams, always seems like such a cool person.

Clap When You Land is another great book. I love books with parallel stories. What I love about this one is that it tell the stories of two different cultures, two different experiences, and two different outlooks. It doesn’t seem like it, but it’s almost as if it’s a love story.

Favorite Skincare Product:

Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Hydrid - I got a comment on my YouTube asking me to review this sunscreen and I was finally able to get my hands on it by way of one of my favorite stores, Target. I love supporting Black-owned busines. I am huge skincare and have been since I was young and I love having a go-to sunscreen brand that I know will not leave a white cast. I reviewed and demoed it on my channel earlier this month so be sure to check that out if you are interested.

If you’ve read, watched, or used any of the things I’ve mentioned, please leave a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts!
