My October 2021 Favorites (and Recap)

October was a stressful month for me to be honest. I’ve been dealing with a little bit of imposter syndrome when it comes be being a fashion designer. I am been in a creative rut for a minute and I am putting some things in motion for me to be able to get out of it. I will post more on that at a later time. The month wasn’t completely stressful, there were some great things that came out of it.

I passed my Blog and Podcast course which I am excited about. Adding a blog and podcast to my life is such a bonus. I have also been doing a lot of learning. Sometimes I don’t feel comfortable asking for help because it feels as if you might “copy” someone, but I have to remember I’m a creative. The fundamentals are what they are and you can learn from other peoples’ mistakes and journeys so you don’t have to start at square one flailing about.

I didn’t accomplish everything in my “what to expect”, but I accomplished some things or even the beginning points and that’s important too.

MY OCTOBER FAVORITES

FAVORITE PODCAST:

I have been listening to the Content Creatives Podcast which is hosted by Emma and Maddy. Emma can be found on Instagram @emmasedition and Maddy can be found there also @MadCrayy. They are both based in Seattle and are accomplished content creators hence the name of the podcast. Since I have been at work more on my blog and YouTube, I have decided I want to step up my game a bit. I’m not expecting full-blown brand partnerships (at least not at this point), but I do hope to grow my personal brand.

Listening to this podcast and hearing their experiences and interviews has been so helpful. Honestly, when I listen I come up with so many ideas of what to do on my own platforms. I love how they have not encouraged listeners to niche down. Niching is something that I have been recommended to do, but I just can’t bring myself to limit myself and my audience in that way.

FAVORITE MUSIC:

I have not listened to a lot of music this month. I started listening to more last week.

Flo Milli x Ice Baby

Adele x Easy

BIA x CAN’T TOUCH THIS

Yung Miami x Rap Freaks

Roaches rhymed with Buenas Noches — legendary.

Megan thee Stallion x Something for Thee Hotties

FAVORITE YOUTUBER:

As a YouTuber, it’s kind of embarrassing to say you haven’t been watching a lot of YouTube videos. Primarily, I’ve been watching videos on how to make my editing skills better. My favorite channel when it comes to this is Adobe in a Minute. When I am editing in the evenings or early mornings, they really save me time and energy trying to figure things out.

What to Expect in November:

I recently did my very first mini photo session which is which the image for this post came from. I have been watching so many YouTube videos and listening to the Content Creatives Podcast to give me some inspiration when it comes to doing some more elaborate sessions.

I am finally working on some designs. I need to get back into fashion design and no matter how basic I’m telling myself something is in the back of my head, I know that “done is better than perfect.” You can expect to see these outfits towards the very end of the year and the beginning of 2022 since they will be worn by me to celebrate the new year. Can you believe how fast this year has gone by?

I will also be mapping out my goals and vision for the next year this month and in December. My goal is to continue to grow personally and professionally so that at this point next year, I have less stress, more help, more stability, and the ability to present what I know what I can do.

How was your October? Let me know in the comments.
